Eco-friendly synthesis of gold, platinum and palladium nanoparticles from lignin and hemicellulose

In this work, we reported an environmentally benign method for the preparation of Pt, Au and Pd nanoparticles in water. Only water-insoluble alkaline lignin (AL) and hemicellulose were used as reducing and protecting agents. Both AL and hemicellulose show excellent reduction ability in the metal precursor reduction process. The solid AL could support the obtained metal nanoparticles. The metal particles reduced by hemicellulose aggregate and the aggregation degree increases with time.
