In this brief commentary, the possibility of exploiting lignocellulosic waste biomass for the production of succinic acid and poly-γ-glutamic acid by fermentation was explored with several typical examples. In addition, we mentioned the features of the expansion of the production scale with fibrous bed bioreactors. We hope to discuss the potential and perspective of utilizing lignocellulosic waste biomass for the production of valuable chemicals.
