The methanol extract and aqueous extracts of Urena lobata were subjected to investigate its antioxidant property. The phytochemical screening demonstrated the presence of different types of compound like flavonoids, tannins, saponins and phytosterols. The methanol extract and aqueous extract of the plant were tested for antioxidant activity using scavenging activity of (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) radical method .The the methanolic extract exhibited high free radical scavenging activity when compared to aqueous extract. IC50 was found to be 17 (μg/ml).
