Experimental Study of Transient Forced Convection Heat Transfer Nanofluid in Triangular Duct

Ahmed H. Ali, Tahseen A.Al-Hattab

The transient 3-D fully developed forced convection laminar flow of Cuo/water and Al2O3with constant property in horizontal triangular duct has been thoroughly investigated experimentally. Four different values of Reynolds number(500,1000,1500 and 2000) , volume fraction(0.025, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.25)% were used, and constant Heat Flux boundary condition was applied. Results are compared with theoretical data available in the literature in steady state condition, good agreements are showed. The results appeared that heat transfer rate become more remarkable when employing nanofluid than that of pure water. Also, Heat transfer enhancement increases with the particle volume concentration increase for a given other parameters, and considerable reduction in time consuming for steady state condition. Temperature difference distribution are presented for various void fractions and Reynolds numbers. in addition, friction factor, local and average Nusselt number are introduced for various Reynolds numbers and volume fraction of nanoparticles.
