Maximum PowerPoint (MPP) is a point in V-P characteristics where entire PV system can work with maximum efficiency and deliver maximum output .The factors affecting the efficiency of the solar systems are changes in irradiance ,shading ,temperature etc,. Though the MPP is varying continuously, there should be some algorithms to track the MPP changes and make sure the device work with maximum efficiency. The two famous algorithms, Perturb and Observe method and incremental conductance, has its own drawbacks at certain suddenly varying situations. In this project our aim is to develop and implement a new adaptive algorithm to track the Maximum PowerPoint at its varying conditions .Here we are using variable step size adaptive LMS algorithm .The advantages of this method are higher efficiency, better stabilized output, faster and true MPP tracking and long life of battery. The main application of this project is it can be used in solar charge controller and also this method can be extended to the wind power generation application.
