This paper presents electronic ballast for lighting applications in various fields. In this paper proposed electronic ballast input consists of two integrated flyback converters with different polarities, in order to evade the use of the input diode bridge rectifying stage and the output stage has a boost converter with an output current control to supply sufficient voltage supply to the lighting LED/HID lamps. This advantage comes from the evasion of the input diode bridge, thus allowing the bidirectional power flow at the input stage. Light emitting diode (LED) and High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps with high brightness has engrossed a lot of attention from both industry and academic world for its high efficiency, ease to drive, ecological friendliness, and long lifespan. They have possible applications to replace the incandescent bulbs and fluorescent lamps in residential, industrial and commercial lighting with LED lamps. The understanding of this new lighting source requires both tight LED voltage regulation and high power factor as well. In this paper I proposed a single-stage flyback converter for the LED lighting applications and input power factor correction.
