This paper presents a design for nearly zero flattened dispersion in the index guided Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) having five layer defect core. In this paper a 2-D holey (PCFs using air holes in their cross-sections) index guided photonic crystal fiber having five layer defect core for three different defect core diameters are investigated. Because of its ability to confine light in hollow cores or with confinement characteristics not possible in conventional optical fiber, PCF is now finding applications in fiber-optic communica tions, fiber lasers, nonlinear devices, highpower transmission, highly sensitive gas sensors, and other areas . A full-vector TE, FDTD method is used to simulate and analyze the dispersion property.
